After spending a week around the beautiful La Morra, we head over to Dogliani. On just half an hour drive you’ll reach this area where you’ll find as beautiful views as before: stretched hills, vineyards, villages and rivers.
After having seen different properties elsewhere, we were also curious about this surrounding area. Not particular because of the beautiful views and vineyards, but also the close distances to ski and beach which is something we would prefer when buying a holiday residence.
We booked our accommodation at Agriturismo Casa Matilda, an ecological farm where they produces their own products from their harvest. Such as jams, spreads, sauces, juices, wine and even vinegar. We got a nice apartment with private outdoor terrace overlooking the hills of Dogliani. Our stay was amazing here, both the owners were super friendly and the outdoor play areas and swimming pool were the best for Lara and the other kids that were staying at the accommodation.
The centre village of Dogliani is absolutely a must visit if you’re around. We could easily walk from the agriturismo downwards, but also with the car it’s easy to get there. You can choose to park your car upon the hill where you can start your walk to the centre of Dogliani. A nice starting point as it gives you a beautiful view over the town and its surrounding areas. But if you prefer to start in the centre of Dogliani you can also park your car easily on the square place or the surrounding streets.
The nice thing I noticed of Dogliani is that it’s not as touristy like La Morra for example. It’s a way different village, but it still has the same vibe with good restaurants and nice boutiques and the narrow streets with their colourful facades gives you that ultimate feeling of being on holiday. After lunch or dinner we loved to stroll through Dogliani with a delicious ice cream from Gelateria Bar Roma in our hand before we head back to Casa Matilda.
Of course our house hunting adventure was still going on and also around Dogliani we have seen many different houses, from townhouses to old farms and mountain chalets. – Although we haven’t bought our dream house yet, we know for sure that we would love to find a property in this area. Our stay brought us to many nice places and showed us as much of the area as possible. Knowing what and where you want to spend your holiday the upcoming years makes the hunt to the perfect residence much more easier.
