As soon as the weather is good, I love to go out with my daughter. A playground, the park a forest, you can find plenty of them in Cambridge. I was actually surprised that there’s no children’s farm close by the city centre, apart from a few cows and horses.
After a quick research I found out that you have to drive a bit further if you want to see more animals. Which is of course not that bad, as the countryside area around the city is also nice to drive through and worth to explore.
About 16 miles from the centre of Cambridge, among the meadows, you’ll find South Angle Farm Park. A spacious farm with various animals, a flower nursery, playground and education centre. Not only families with children like to come here, schools also regularly make a trip to this fun place where children can learn a lot about life on the farm.
The children’s farm has a playful layout and guides you along the paths through greenhouses full of flowers and plants, playgrounds with pedal cars and climbing equipment and the meadows with ponies, sheeps and alpacas.
The stables are home to rabbits, guinea pigs, piglets and even reptiles. Feeding and cleaning takes daily place at set times. As a visitor you’re free the help a hand if you like.
If you feel hungry after all play and taking care of the animals, you can settle down on the picnic field on the edge of the farm. A relaxing place under the apple trees, safely surrounded by a fence. A perfect place to let your kids run around while you can enjoy a cup of coffee with some nice pastries in the sun.
This area can also be booked for birthday parties and other festive events. For more information about bookings and packages click here.
