Because we wanted to experience the fulltime London vibe we chose to sit in South Kensington the first month. This fancy neighbourhood, located at the border of Kensington and Chelsea, provides access to exclusive restaurants, cozy pubs, Royal parks, beautiful boutiques and one of London’s biggest museums.

It’s easy to get the bus. There drive a lot and they arrive every 5 till 10 minutes. For the first time Lara sat in a real English red double decker. Of course we did our best to be on top of the first row. The best seats for an amazing view during the ride.

At the Exhibition Road in South Kensington you can find academic establishments, a church and capital’s main museums as Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum and National History Museum. The name of the road is derived from the major exhibition held in the nearby Hyde Park in 1851.

Adjancent to the Kensington High Road you will find access to one of the Royal parks, including Kensington Gardens. This park is one of the eight Royal Parks of London and borders Hyde Park. On the East side of the park you will find the royal residence Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana had lived until her dead. This park is a wonderful place to get rid of the hustle and bustle of South Kensington and Chelsea. You see here a lot of people walking, doing sport activities or reading a book on a bench.

During our stay in South Kensington, we make frequent use of public transport at Gloucester Road Station or South Kensington station. From this point you can easily reach the bus or metro to other districts.

Next to busy South Kensington Road and Gloucester Road, where there are many shops and restaurants, it is wonderful to walk around the smaller streets. Here you will find beautiful old renovated houses with ancient ornaments, parks and sometimes a boutique or coffee bar at the corner of the street.

In London you will see many old-timers. I think it fits so well in the environment.

In the smaller streets with almost no cars you will see many plant bins, facade gardens and benches in front of the houses. I can imagine it is very cozy in the summer months with all the neighbors outside.
South Kensington is a great place to walk around and wonder the whole day. There are a lot of things to do. Soon I will write more about our visits at some sights in this area.
