We brought a visit to the beautiful Milton Country Park, a bit up North from Cambridge. In less then a 20 min drive you’ll find this hidden gem, where you can enjoy natures wildlife as its best.

The park comprises 95 acres of terrain to explore based around the reclaimed gravel pits, but out of it’s wilder depths there are also 2 miles of accessible pathways, an adventure playground, wildlife observation platforms and many other simple ways to enjoy a pleasing family day out in the country.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we couldn’t use the adventure playground. A shame, as it looked like a lot of fun for children to play in. It has all the things you need in there to meet the kids’ climbing, sliding, running and hiding needs. When the sun is out, it’s the perfect place to have a seat with a coffee to go from the counter which is next to it.

We decided to explore the park further and let us lead by following the paths. The trails are wheel and push chair accessible, plus dogs are welcome with an off the leash area at the Northern end. There are also loads of wide open spaces for running and playing in, so make sure to bring some traditional family fare like the bats, balls and Frisbee.

There are platforms for fishing on both lakes but you do need to pre arrange a license and bring your own kit if you’re angling for some family fishing time. During Summer time, some lakes do also allow swimming and rowing.

During school holidays there are also seasonal and special events including fun runs and races plus annual Grottos and Egg Hunts. So keep an eye on the website for some extra fun when everything will be up and running again.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 most of the things were closed and events are currently not running, but the park is still open for a lovely walk or bike ride. Something you definitely can use during this period.
