Last week my parents visited us in London. We live just three weeks in Chiswick, so there is still a lot to discover. The near vicinity is well known to us, but we did not know the more peaceful surroundings near the Thames. We decided to take a walk along this part of Chiswick.
We pulled out from the house towards the rail, we had to cross this by the walkway to get closer to the Thames. The Thames runs across London, and also along Chiswick. A beautiful route along the water, with lots of greenery and many rowing and sailing clubs.
The walk led us through the ‘Thames Path’, a route that you can follow along the Thames. Unfortunately the route is not completely along the water and you will also have to turn down occasionally to walk through a residential area. These parts are not very special, actually a little boring, because the area there do not have much to offer.
However it was a very nice walk, and for the most part by the green. Occasionally you encountered some runners, and on the Thames you regularly spotted a rowboat. Rowing is a very popular sport in England.
We ended the trip with a lunch at ‘The Dove‘, located in Hammersmith next to Chiswick. A cozy pub, including outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames. While the rest choose for the Fish and Chips, I took a delicious pumpkin soup with some fries. A very nice place, The Dove, we will definitely come back here soon.
We continued our walk. Time to go home. It was a lovely day.
