Bays and farms at Mornington Peninsula

After spending a few wonderful days in Port Macquarie, the weather changed. The few coming days would be grey and rainy around Sydney, which was exactly the next stop on our list. We decided to skip the rain and adjust our route towards the sun. Within two days we arrived in Victoria Mornington Peninsula. An attractive seaside resort, known for its beautiful rocky beaches, bays, camp sites along the sea, hot springs and small production farms where you can enjoy the local products that the area has to offer. Something we really love.

Mornington
Our campsite was close to the cozy town centre of Mornington, where you can stroll around at many boutiques and take a seat at one of the trendy coffee bars. Around the town you’ll find a beach and a small harbour where you can rent a beach house and (sailing) boats. After a good walk along the water you can visit the the nearby playground, which is strikingly big and beautiful equipped. Entirely made of wood, including a large ship, climbing area and a fort.

London Birdge Lookout
At the northernmost beach of the Mornington Peninsula National Park you can find this special rock in the sea. This beautiful formation consists of sandstone that has been weathered by thousands of years of wind, rain and waves. It is not allowed to climb into the rock, but you can still see it very closely.

Sunny Ridge Strawberry farm
In London we were already a fan of the Pick Your Own farms, this is also one of them. Slightly inland, on top of the hills you’ll find this beautiful strawberry farm. For just $25 (Australian dollar) around £13 you can pick fresh strawberries on the field and enjoy them afterwards. A fun outing for the whole family. 244 Shands Rd, Main Ridge VIC 3928, Australië – Open: Fri till Sun 11:00 till 16:00 Closed: Mon till Thur

Main Ridge Dairy
A short drive from the Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm you’ll find this goat farm where you can’t only feed little goats but also sit in the sun and enjoy a cheese board and glass of goat milk. 295 Main Creek Rd, Main Ridge VIC 3928, Australië – Open: Thur till Sun 10:00 till 16:30 Closed: Mon till Wed

Our visit to Mornington Peninsula was short-lived, but in the time we were there we were able to do a lot of fun things and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Time to drive on and look for some wildlife at Philip Island.
