Together with friends from The Netherlands, we visited 20 Fenchurch Street. This building is a commercial skyscraper in London. The name from te building comes from the address, Fenchurch Street in the historic City of London financial district. People also call this building the ‘Walkie Talkie’, because of it’s similar shape.
The building, which is designed by architect Rafael Vinyl, has 34 floors and is 160 meters high. 20 Fenchurch Street belongs to the six most highest towers in the City of London and to the 12th of London.
On the top three levels of the building you find Sky Garden include a large covered terrace with stunning view over London, a lounge bar and a restaurant. These have been made available to the public since January 2015. If you are planning to visit 20 Fenchurch Street, please book online beforehand. There are only a maximum of tickets available to visitors a day. For more information about booking a visit, click here.
The construction was completed in spring 2014.
Because of the huge glassconstruction, you still can enjoy the beautiful view from the inside. The name Sky Garden is clearly reflected in the space, lots of green under a roof at breathtaking height.
From the top floors you can see London well from a different perspective. The city is so big, there seems to be no end. Nice to spot other famous buildings and sights.
Sky Garden offers different dining options, including: Darwin Brasserie, City Garden Bar, Sky Pod Bar, Fenchurch Terrace and Fenchurch Restaurant. We ended our visit in the last one, having a delicious 5 course dinner including wine arrangement. Wondering how that was? Read my post Dinner with a view.
If you have plans to visit the Sky Garden, please note that there is a long queue below and plan your visit on time. Because we had a reservation at the Fenchurch Restaurant we could go straight to the lift. But also for this reservation applies, reserve on time (sometimes months) because it’s most of the time fully booked. We were lucky, because someone denied it.
